Washington Leadership Academy

What is it?

Every year, HOSA-Future Health Professionals hosts a capstone leadership experience for HOSA state leaders and club officers, typically around the end of September.
Located in Washington D.C., officers can gain the opportunity to develop leadership skills, develop hands on experience in Healthcare initiatives, and network with other HOSA officers from other states or chapters.
Some of WLA's highlights are leadership, communication, and advocacy workshops; guest speakers; service projects (such as with NMDP); and officer team building activities

Day 1:

WLA started off with an opening ceremony, involving and introduction to the International Executive Council (IEC) and two guest speakers discussing their involvement in the healthcare industry.

- HOSA IEC (the President/President-Elect) participated in the wreath laying process.

NMDP: National Marrow Donor Program
- Non-profit organization that connects patients with blood cancers to stem cell or bone marrow donors
NMDP at WLA
- Advocated for NMDP at the National Mall
- Asked for donations and people to sign up for the registry
- Successfully secured a couple of donations!
This year, we are going to fundraise for NMDP at school as our own service project and donate the money to help support their organization
- Last year, we successfully raised $800!
